It may seem too early to start thinking about Christmas, but State Senator Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry) wants to make sure every Illinois child has something special to unwrap this holiday season. To that end, he is partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for their annual Toys for Tots campaign.
From now until December 1, the Senator’s district office at 5400 W. Elm Street, Suite #103 in McHenry will serve as an official drop-off point for Toys for Tots donations. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“Every year the U.S. Marine Corps sponsors a Toys for Tots campaign, and toys for children of all ages are collected and distributed to families in need,” said Sen. Wilcox. “It is a very worthwhile program that I am proud to support. Items collected in a specific county are distributed in that county so people can know they are helping people in their immediate area.”
Donated toys, books, and games will be accepted through December 1, and all items must be new and unwrapped. During the 2021 campaign in McHenry County, 28,510 toys were collected, and 7,616 children were supported. During the same timeframe in Lake County, 63,172 toys were collected, and 27,524 children were supported.
“The people of the 32nd District have a very generous spirit, and I invite everyone to help put a smile on a child’s face this holiday season,” said. Sen. Wilcox.
