State Senator Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry) and State Representative Tom Weber (R-Lake Villa) are partnering with the Illinois Treasurer’s Office on August 16 to connect residents of McHenry and Lake Counties with more than $3.5 billion in unclaimed property and cash. From 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM on Wednesday, August 16, attendees can meet with a counselor from the Treasurer’s Office at the Fox Lake Public Library to learn if some of the unclaimed items are theirs. In addition to helping people search for property and cash, counselors can help them file claims.
“There are so many people that aren’t aware that they are owed property or money,” said Wilcox. “On average, one in four people who search the Treasurer’s Office I-CASH database discover property or cash they can claim, and this is a convenient way for people to do a search and get a claim filed.”
Senator Wilcox’s & Representative Weber’s Unclaimed Property Day
Wednesday, August 16
2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Fox Lake Public Library
255 East Grand Avenue, Fox Lake
“Right now, the state could be holding inheritance money or funds from a forgotten bank account that belongs to you,” said Weber. “Don’t let it go to waste. Stop by to see if you are owed money and claim what belongs to you.”
