With Valentine’s Day just weeks away, State Senator Craig Wilcox (R–McHenry) is once again inviting the community to take part in his annual “Valentines for Seniors” card drive. The initiative encourages residents of all ages to help spread cheer by creating handmade Valentine’s Day cards and drawings for seniors living in assisted living centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities throughout the 32nd Senate District.
Senator Wilcox is asking families, students from public and private schools, church groups, scouting organizations, and other community groups to participate by sharing messages of kindness that will be delivered to seniors during the week of Valentine’s Day.
“This card drive is a simple way to make a meaningful connection across generations,” said Wilcox. “Every year, I am reminded how powerful a few kind words can be for seniors who may be feeling alone or overlooked.”
In previous years, thousands of cards have been delivered to appreciative seniors across the district, and Wilcox hopes to continue building on that tradition.
“Our seniors have given so much to our communities,” Wilcox added. “Taking a moment to let them know they are valued, remembered, and cared for can truly brighten their day and lift their spirits.”
Cards and drawings may be dropped off or mailed now through February 6 to Senator Wilcox’s Woodstock office, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Those who are unable to drop off cards during office hours are encouraged to call the office to make alternative arrangements.
