State Senator Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry) and State Representative Steve Reick (R-Woodstock) are once again partnering to help residents protect themselves from identity theft while supporting local families in need. The legislators will co-host a free Community Shred Event and Food Drive on Saturday, August 8, at Representative Reick’s legislative office in Woodstock.

Residents are encouraged to bring old bank statements, medical records, tax documents, receipts, and other sensitive paperwork for secure shredding. Participants are also invited to donate non-perishable food items, which will be distributed to local food pantries to assist families in need.
Participants are asked to remain in their vehicles and follow posted traffic directions upon arrival. Shred truck staff will unload documents. Paper folders, staples, and paper clips are accepted; however, large binder clips, plastic file folders, floppy disks, and electronic devices cannot be accepted.
“Safeguarding your personal information is more important than ever, and this event gives residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of sensitive documents they no longer need,” said Wilcox. “I am grateful to partner with Representative Reick to provide this free community service each year.”
The shred truck will remain on site until noon or until it reaches capacity.
“Every food or toiletry donation, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference for a local family,” Wilcox added. “If you’re planning to bring documents to shred, I hope you’ll also consider bringing a few non-perishable food items or toiletries to help stock the shelves of our local food pantries.”
