Crystal Lake, IL – State Senator Craig Wilcox is collecting Valentine’s Day cards to spread a little joy and hope to the area’s long-term care facility residents. It’s easy to participate and help uplift the spirits of our family, friends and neighbors who live in these residences and may not receive the same level of interaction as they did prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“2020 was a difficult year for everyone, but especially those who reside in our nursing homes and assisted living centers,” said Wilcox (R-McHenry). “Health restrictions and precautions put in place nearly a year ago to protect and prevent the spread of the coronavirus unfortunately led to a lot of isolation for those living in these facilities.”
Sen. Wilcox is encouraging churches, schools, and community members in the 32nd Senate District to write Valentine’s Day cards that can be dropped off at, or mailed to, his district office. Once all the cards are collected, they’ll be delivered to the various long-term care facilities throughout the district.
“This is a simple but heartfelt gesture that will extend our concern for our fellow citizens. We can always use a little more joy and hope in our lives,” said Wilcox.
The collection of Valentine’s Day cards will run through Wednesday, February 10. For those choosing to deliver the cards in-person, please remember to maintain social distancing and to wear a mask when entering the office.
