32nd District to Receive over $278 Million in Infrastructure Improvements in IDOT Multi-Year Plan

In May, the IL Department of Transportation (IDOT) released its new multi-year plan for road and bridge projects for Fiscal Years 2022-2027. Of the total $20.7 billion outlay, state and local roadways in the 32nd Senate District are receiving $278,363,000 in funds.

Specifically, $259,505,000 has been earmarked for state highway projects in the 32nd District through 2027, with $45,235,000 allocated for projects that should get underway very soon in Fiscal Year 2022 (begins July 1, 2021). An additional $18,858,000 has been allocated toward local road/bridge projects from 2022-2027, with $9,311,000 to be spent during FY 2022.

These improvement projects include roads and bridges in both McHenry and Lake Counties. The state has neglected many of the road and bridge safety issues in this part of the state for many years. In finally choosing to address the significant infrastructure needs in the region, the 32nd District’s share of the total IDOT multi-year plan allocation is much higher than many other regions across the state received.
