Senator Wilcox Responds to Latest Expansion of Abortion Rights

In the final day of the 2023 Lame Duck Session of the legislature, the Senate passed legislation that further expands abortion rights and adds increased protections for those who perform the procedure. The bill also requires insurance companies to cover, without a co-pay, abortion-inducing drugs, gender dysphoria hormonal therapy medications, and HIV pre and post-exposure drugs. In response to the passage of the bill, State Senator Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry) issued the following statement:

“Most states would like to be known for their friendly business climate or favorable tax rates, but in Illinois, Majority Party Democrats have made it a mission to make Illinois the ‘Abortion Capitol’ of the United States. Prior to this week’s vote on House Bill 4664, Illinois already had the most expansive abortion rights in the nation. It’s incredibly sad that the supermajority in the legislature sees no problem with Illinois’ claim to fame being the complete disregard of unborn life.”
