Senator Wilcox Launches Summer Reading Program

State Senator Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry) is encouraging local children in the 32nd District who will enter grades 1-6 in the fall to complete his summer reading challenge. Participants are asked to read eight books during their summer break from school and return their reading logs to the Senator’s office by August 2, 2023. Those who complete the challenge will receive a special Senate recognition and will be invited to an ice cream party to celebrate their reading success.

“My summer reading program is a great way to support summer reading and keep young people’s minds sharp during the summer break from school,” said Wilcox. “Reading logs are available at District 32 Libraries, at schools, and many were mailed to families in the District. I look forward to meeting the young readers and congratulating them on their success at our ice cream party.”
