State Senator Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry) is partnering with Senators Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) and Dave Syverson (R-Cherry Valley) on October 14 for a comprehensive Senior Expo that will be held at the Crystal Lake Park District’s Grand Oaks Community Building
The Senior Expo will bring together more than 30 organizations, government agencies, health care providers and community service organizations offering information and resources designed to help older adults stay healthy, active and independent. Admission is free, and refreshments will be available.

“Senior citizens and their families should not have to navigate a maze of agencies and programs to find the help they need,” Wilcox said. “This expo brings many of those resources together in one place and gives residents the opportunity to speak directly with the organizations providing these services. Whether someone needs assistance with transportation, health care, utilities, veterans’ services or another issue, we want to make it easier for them to find answers and get connected.”
In addition to more than 30 informational booths, attendees will have access to a variety of free services and resources, including:
- I-PASS on Demand assistance through the Illinois Tollway
- ICASH/Unclaimed Property assistance through the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office
- Senior transportation information from PACE and the Northern Illinois Transportation Agency (NITA)
- Veteran Information
- Optional vaccinations provided by Walgreens
- Utility assistance and energy efficiency program information
- Health and wellness resources from local health care providers
- Home health and senior living information
- And much more
“Events like this are an important part of serving our communities and making sure residents know what resources are available to them,” Wilcox added. “I encourage seniors, caregivers and family members to stop by, talk with the participating organizations, and take advantage of the many free services being offered. Our goal is to make this a useful, informative event that provides real assistance to the seniors and families we represent.”
